LOL!
Love to see this play out!!
that's right guys.
as i told you before, they boe have been considering me for the eldership.
which i don't care for, but since my family is stuck in this cult, i guess i can use the new position to help them see that the holy spirit has nothing to do with me being an elder.
LOL!
Love to see this play out!!
for heather mills.
after 4 years of marriage.
poor paul mac....... i bet he is sorry he entered into that deal.
i have such a difficult time living a double life, i dont hate going to meetings and seeing the friends i just know it is not real and i dont like being there.
but since i can not get my husband (who is also inactive) to just leave for good we go back from time to time.. my older son really hates it all his friends from the hall are either in jail or in a gang it was difficult to keep him in the truth because of seeing so many of his friends doing badly.
i finally allowed him to just have worldly friends and he is fine, in fact some of the jws would ask if their children could come over and spend time with my son and we were not even active.. i know i can never go back to the jws, i realize it is false but i also know that we all need to keep praying to god and i believe that god is jehovah, some people just need to do it in a building and need to belong to a place where people treat them like they are some body.
Hola chica.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. . .all that phony stuff messing with our heads. . .it's OVER!!
We hung on, my husband and I, for a while. We would argue about the meetings, he quit really before I did, and I wanted to push us both to go. We figured out that we didn't argue when we planned to not go, and we haven't argued since, 3+ years.
It's tough dear, but you'll both come to the same realization together and you'll be happy. Or, even if he can't give it up completely, you'll be happy. It takes time. It's fresh air and sunshine outside the borganization.
Welcome to JWD! We are glad you're here. Read all you can, past and present posts, and post often yourself! You can do it!
it's not that far off, # 1000. i'm planning in advance, i want it to be good, you know, a thread that will outlive me.
what shall it be?

i hear it a lot on this board that the 607 date is wrong... i figured that out while i was a jw... never really thought much about it though.
just thought, ok, if it's wrong then everything is moved up about 20 or so years.... and for that matter, why is it such a big deal to the society?
why can't they just fix the date so it's right.
I know! I know!! Pick me!!
Because without that date, and all the dates related to it (1918 for one, when they were picked by Jesus) they are not the FDS. Power reduced, everything's a lie, no more money. That date is too closely related to their identity which they gave themselves.
Kapeesh?
hi.
was wondering if there are any former/current elders daughter that are on the board.. share your experinces or stories about being one.. what did you "catch" elders daughters doing wrong.. yes i am one and be honest with us..
I was/am one.
The worst I've seen was just a few years ago. . .a younger friend of ours confided in me that she had an abortion 8 years ago, when she was 16 and still living at home w/ her JW parents, daddy elder. She was horrified at the thought of her dad being removed because of her actions. That's all she cared about.
They still don't know.
several days ago i was watching the movie the shawshank redemption and i really got to thinking how much this movie ties in with people who are jws, and deciding what to do with their life.
i was discussing this point with my wife tonight, and it was quite shocking how many people we knew/know who fit into one of these categories.
andy: people who have been in the organization for years and finally look at things realistically and decide to get out.
Great one. Isn't that the truth.
I've got another movie comparo to JWs, for another time though.
i'm writing this because of a conversation i had with a co-worker who made it plain that she is anti-gun, 'guns kill people', yada yada.
she doesn't know that my gun is on me everyday, within just feet of her during the day, she still doesn't.
i'm writing this because i have seen a trait that's common to the anti-gun crowd, and it's a scary one.

She doesn't know that my gun is on me everyday, within just feet of her during the day, she still doesn't. I'm writing this because I have seen a trait that's common to the anti-gun crowd, and it's a scary one. I find that they are usually the least prepared mentally for a potential confrontation, or, and I hate to say it, naive, ignorant of their surroundings.
This gal jogs alone on a running path for miles at a time, with headphones on, therefore has no idea what's going on around her when she's out there, plus she takes no phone with her. I won't do that with a gun on me. . .come on!! Does everyone know that, in most locations, if you call 911 from your cel phone (with the exception of some pre-paid phones) that through your phone's GPS your location can be tracked within feet? Does everyone know that if you set your phone's GPS setting to 'location on'--not just the 911 setting--that your phone can be located even if you don't call 911?
A cop friend of mine attended a law enforcement training class on the 'new' terrorism. In a nutshell: Where will domestic and foreign terrorists next strike? At your child's school. There is the potential for kids to be picked off one by one by snipers when they are led outside for a fire drill. . .on the playground. . .by bombs in the classrooms or during assemblies.
He was disturbed by one question asked of the class of officers: How much ammo do you carry? They all gave generally the same number in answer. The response from instructors? It's not nearly enough. And if the police are concerned about not carrying enough ammo, what shape is the public in?
New training and thinking is based now on what happened at the elementary school in Beslan--now delightfully referred to as the Beslan Massacre where 1200 hostages were taken and 334 were killed, plus 400 hundred more children adults left maimed and disabled. 30 terrorists, men and women, committed this act.
Here's my point, and this is the most affecting quote I've read about this incident: "After returning to Moscow, Putin ordered a two-day period of national mourning for Sept 6 and 7, 2004. In his televised speech he paraphrased Joseph Stalin, saying: 'We have shown weakness. The weak ones get beaten.' "
You may not agree with me for carrying a gun, or with us for having guns at every corner of our home, between the cushions of the sofa in the living room, or for that time you opened the utility drawer in my kitchen when you were looking for silverware and were stunned to meet my 'kitchen drawer gun'; you may be completely anti-gun. That's fine, just do this one thing, do it for yourself only. Take self-defense classes, talk with law-enforcement to learn how victims are being picked, take a gun class--there are people there who are security conscious, you'll learn from them and you won't have to ever handle a gun. Learn how to be an alert citizen, to not be a target.
The lessons: Know what's going on around you. Be a little suspicious. The weak ones get beaten. If your life or that of a family member is threatened, fight for all you're worth. Go in with that mindset and you can win.
Hugs to all.

I carry a gun, all the time.
Fact: When you need help, when your life is threatened, when you've been knocked senseless by a rapist, when someone 'invades' your home while you're watching tv and your kids are playing on the floor, help will come, yes, they will come.
After the fact.
i'm looking to put together a collection of scanned watchtower / awake articles and extracts of other watchtower publications to show non-jws (and maybe even some current jws) that highlight the control issues of the society.. .
i am thinking along the lines of the famous 1996 article with the caption "do you wisely destroy apostate material ?
i will obviously upload the collection when it is complete.. .
The situation is different if the disfellowshipped or disassociated one is a relative living outside the immediate family circle and home, states. It might be possible to have almost no contact at all with the relative.
TheWatchtower of April 15, 1988, page 28.
That statement makes me physically ill. I can hardly believe they put it in print.
